This is a great basic beanie pattern for men using hdc's. At the end of the pattern you can choose to add additional rows if you want a hat with a folded edge or if you would like a slouchy hat!

Size: Men's, 22-23" head circumference
Supplies:
Size H (5.0 mm) Crochet Hook
Medium weight yarn, 175-250 yards (depending on which style you choose to make)
Darning Needle
Scissors
Stitch Abbreviations (US Terms):
Ch - Chain
Hdc - Half Double Crochet
Sc - Single Crochet
Ss - Slip Stitch
St - Stitch
Important Notes:
-Joins are made with ss.
-Ch 1 does NOT count as a stitch.
Gauge: 4 hdc & 3 rows = 1”
Row 1: Magic circle, ch 1, 11 hdc in circle. Join to first hdc. Pull circle tight. (11 hdc)
Row 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each st around. Join. (22 hdc)
Row 3: Ch 1, *2 hdc, hdc in next st.* Repeat *to* around. Join. (33 hdc)
Your circle should measure approx. 2 ½” across the center.
Row 4: Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join. (33 hdc)
Row 5: Ch 1, *2 hdc, hdc in next 2 st* Repeat *to* around. Join. (44 hdc)
Row 6: Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join. (44 hdc)
