Piece should measure approximately 4” x 2” for gauge. If not, please adjust your tension or hook size to get gauge. Gauge is important for this hat pattern.

Important Notes:
-Ch 2 does not count as dc and is not included in the stitch count at the end of each row.
-Joins are made with sl st to the first dc, do not join to the ch 2.

Hat

Using N Hook:

Row 1: Magic circle, ch 2, 10 dc in circle. Join. (10 dc)

Pull circle tight and sew in end.

Row 2: Ch 2, dc in same, 2 dc in next and in each around. Join. (19 dc)

Row 12: Ch 1, sc in same and in each around. Join. (41 sc)

Fasten off and switch to contrast color.

Using K Hook:

Join with sl st in any space. *Ch 3, sk 1, sl st in next* Repeat from *to* around. For even spacing also count the sl st (join) from the last row as a stitch.

Fasten off and sew in ends.

Optional Pom-Pom

Using contrast color; cut a 24” piece of yarn and lay it on a flat surface to begin. Next, using your hand, wrap yarn in contrasting color around about 60 times. Carefully slip the yarn off your hand and lay on top of the 24” piece of yarn. Tie knot at the center, 2 times.

Using the long pieces from the 24” piece of yarn and a tapestry needle sew in and out of the center of the pom-pom to help hold it together. Now you can cut through all the loops and trim the pom-pom up until it’s even and looks nice. Using the longer pieces from the 24” yarn piece sew on to top of hat.

Free Crochet Pattern: Men's Chunky Stripe Scarf

(Shown in Bernat Softee Chunky Clay & Black)

Hi! Today I am sharing the matching scarf to the Men's Chunky Stripe Beanie from yesterday, both of these patterns work up quickly and make excellent gifts! This pattern calls for Bernat Softee Chunky yarn but I have also tested it using 2 strands of Red Heart With Love (worsted weight) held together, just be sure to check your gauge. The gauge is especially important for the hat pattern.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my pattern,
